Here's how it all started. Brian started in the jewelry industry in 1990 after prodding from an aunt whose daughters worked in jewelry retail. He got a degree in jewelry design and fabrication from NWTC under the legendary Harvey Stubenvoll. He also earned GIA Certificates in Diamonds and Diamond Grading. In his 12 years of doing sales and repairs in both chain stores and independent stores, he learned all facets of the business. His passion throughout was always diamonds and the thrill of working with the customer on their special occasion. When the opportunity to purchase an established local store came about in 2005, it was too tempting to pass up. Brian Rouse and his wife Jill opened the doors of Bay Area Diamond Company on August 1, 2005 in the second story of 1545 Sixth St. on Green Bay’s west side. The store steadily grew during the first two years of business. Bay Area Diamond Company joined the Independent Jewelers Organization (IJO) in early 2007. The industry advice, group purchasing power and Antwerp diamond buying trips have proven to be invaluable. Customers benefit from lower prices, a selection of exclusive jewelry pieces, and the knowledge that they are shopping with a trusted, educated jeweler – an IJO Master Jeweler. In the summer of 2007, it was decided that in order to provide easier access and to accommodate the store’s ever-growing inventory and services, a new location was needed. Jill quit her job to come to work for the store full time and the plans for the move began. Jill handles all behind-the-scenes activity including inventory, advertising and accounting. On September 10, 2007, Bay Area Diamond Company moved its business to a bright and welcoming building at 225 S. Military Ave. The large new store is full of new and exciting jewelry in all price ranges, as well as expanded lines of watches, jewelry armoires and clocks. There are over 600 diamond rings to choose from. And the diamond selection in the showcases is still unmatched in the area! Employee training has always been a top priority, so all associates are required to complete GIA courses in metals, colored stones and diamonds. We pride ourselves on educating the customer on their choices when selecting a piece of jewelry and this training is essential for that! It also aids in the creation of custom jewelry, which is done every day at Bay Area Diamond.
